The tides are good for next weekend, on the Fundy coast (high tide 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., Saturday and Sunday respectively). If the weather holds, let's try to get some bigger ice under our belts. Peter

Annybody seen banff film festival where they ice climb some old mines in Swedan, it was the best ice climb ever!

So, how about we settle for Sunday, in light of:

(1) the weather forecast is for sunny and zero in Kentville, whereas it is plus 8 and raining Saturday;
(2) high tide is at 8:40 a.m. (Margaretsville), so we should have beach to walk on by 9:30 - 10:00 a.m.;
(3) the SuperBowl starts at 7:00 p.m., so return around 5:00 - 6:00 would do the trick.

Usual arrangement: 8:00 a.m. for 8:10 a.m. departure, Steve-O-Renos; 8:20 a.m. for 8:30 a.m. departure, Tim Horton's at Kearney Lake and the Bicentennial Hwy?

It was amazing when that huge block of ice came down on them. Camera goes dark with the sound of crashing ice everywhere. Crazy!

Seven climbers yesterday, Hall's Harbour Right.

The ice was intact, but running a wee bit wet (this from the fellow who once referred on this site to multiple facial stitches as "a wee scratch"). The sheer bulk of what was there probably saved it from the heat-wave and rain.

It turns out a little airborn stream of water, such as you would expect from a fountain statute at Versailles, can make a climber very, very wet in a matter of minutes. Who knew? (Aside from the old man who bailed out after three minutes, that is.)

Simon did a bold lead up a 28 metre route, one of the classics whose name escapes me. Eager followed, eager until the iceman cometh, and then climbed powered entirely by cursing, I am told. An admirable effort by both.

Thanks to all, particularly to Simon and Chris for leading up to set anchors.
