rock and ice funding for cleaning proposed

Postby john » Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:00 am

I think the club should provide free brushes to anyone who commits to cleaning routes and I think they should provide a modest cash prize to anyone who recleans old routes(not new ones as there is drive to do that) cleaning old routes is a community service. Come on exec

For the most part (there's always the exception) I think I like the way Fred put it: if the route is old and overgrown, then it would seem as if the community has silently spoken as to its quality.

I have to laugh though John... seriously... this coming from the fella who was opposed to the club ponying up for trail maintenance. It's a blurry line man!

Speaking of cleaning... I've been using one of those $5 circular wire brushes at home mounted on a power drill to clean paint off my old radiator covers. It occurred to me that it might be a good way to clean a route given that you've got a drill at hand when bolting anyway. Anyone ever tried this? Efficient?

..... okay, kidding. I've thought of it, but never really done it.

Javex in a spray bottle is for getting rid of cats not moss. If you want to really clean a route you need "The Brush" from Princess Auto. Those who have witnessed "The Brush" in action will attest to its power. Like a Jedi light-saber...

It's nice to see John dishing it for once instead of taking it. Running for excec is a thankless job. I'm sure John's crack at the exec was all tongue and cheek although I like the idea of supplying brushes. Would be nice to have a stock of them at the UNB gym.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

It is supposed to be ammonia and water.

the club should organize a cleaning "old routes" day. CNS has done it in Main Face before with some kind of party afterward and it was a big success.
