Hi, I'm new here! The welcome to CEC thread.

Postby chossmonkey » Mon Jan 08, 2007 10:01 am

In an effort to give new members an easy first post and to welcome old and new friends to the site I'm starting this thread. New members, tell us all a little about yourself!

Seeing as I'm relatively new here compared to most, I'll go first.

My name is Nathan, most people call me Nate. My wife is Rebecca (aka Granite_Grrl). I'm in my 14th year of climbing and love it all. Ice/mixed climbing is probably my favorite right now (just starting my 2nd year), but I normally go in phases. Unfortunately this winter isn't being overly kind with cold weather so I'll likely be spending a lot of time on our home wall or on rock if it would ever stop raining here.

My name is Derek, this is my first season of climbing and I am hopelessly hooked. I live in Halifax. This site seems to be real friendly and easy to use. I hope to get out climbing with you all some time.

I remember when I started. I could hardly sleep at night. Funny how that never really goes away.
I want to go to hell... there's probably lots of rock to climb there.

Hey first post, I live in Canmore Alberta, love trad, ice, mixed and alpine. Not big into sport but it has its place. Would like to learn about the ice out east as I have family in Ont and a buddy that works in the patch out in NB.

10 days till we fly into Calgary for vacation, we'll be a couple of limestone, sport climbing wienies for our vacation. And suprizingly, I'm really looking forward to it! Now, if only I could find a place where I could still buy lycra pants from....

Hi I'm Josh from the Netherlands and I'm going to visit New Brunswick for a holiday coming month.

I would like to know whether there are any indoorclimbing gyms in NB? And if there is a possibility for bouldering indoors as well as outdoors.

OK, probably I could find a lot of answers if I would give myself time to read, but hey I'm supposed to be working right now and I'm just curious.

Josh

Hi Josh

Welcome to CEC. I can't help you with where to go to climb. You might want to make a post in the NB forum if you don't get any answers here. Good luck.

Hi Josh...

There is an indoor climbing gym at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton and with the exception of birthday parties, it is purely a bouldering gym.

As for bouldering outside, the really good bouldering around here is in Nova Scotia but there are some places to boulder outside in NB (I'm not really sure myself though on where all they are).
